Hi again — I'm dekyi.
You could describe me as someone who's drawn to the "in-between" spaces: between people and systems, cultures and languages, technology and meaning.
I started out studying communication, culture, and language. Over time, I taught myself to code — not to chase a job title, but to solve very real, practical problems around me: data messes, clunky admin work, inaccessible workflows.
But I don't see tech as just efficiency. I care about rhythm, clarity, memory, and dignity — especially when we design things for people who are often left out.
I'm also multilingual (Chinese, Tibetan, English), and I spend a lot of time thinking about what gets lost — or revealed — in translation. Lately, I've been exploring how to use AI not just as a tool, but as a conversation partner in learning, cultural preservation, and storytelling.

Building dashboards for teachers in Paris taught me that numbers aren't neutral. A student's engagement score represents late nights studying, family pressure, or genuine curiosity. When I clean messy data, I'm not just fixing inconsistencies—I'm making someone's reality more visible.
Building vs. Understanding
I used to think success meant automating everything. Now I realize some friction is useful. When educators manually checked student records, they caught patterns algorithms missed—the quiet kid who stopped participating, the high achiever burning out. Sometimes the inefficient way teaches you what efficiency erases.
Cultural Code-Switching
Working across Shanghai, Cardiff, and Paris revealed that problem-solving has accents. British teams wanted documentation before acting. Chinese colleagues preferred iterative testing. French stakeholders valued elegant solutions over quick fixes. I learned to adapt not just languages, but collaboration styles.
